Don't be tardy! It's a Bernstein party!

MUSE/IQUE invites you back to school this November. Inspired by Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday and his famed Young People’s Concerts, Artistic Director Rachael Worby and masterful musicians unite for a celebration of America’s favorite music teacher. The only requirement to get an A is your wide-open imagination as you join us for an uplifting adventure in sound at John Muir High School.

WHAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS EVENT:

  • Besides highlighting Bernstein’s role as an educator, John Muir High School also boasts several notable alumni, including science-fiction author Octavia Butler, baseball legend Jackie Robinson and John Van de Kamp – former Attorney General of California (1982-1991) and Distinguished Advisor and generous supporter of MUSE/IQUE.
  • Artistic Director Rachael Worby will narrate our journey and provide her insight into the venue, the repertoire, and the theme.
  • The repertoire remembers some of Bernstein’s most important televised Young People’s Concerts, and explores his eclectic thirst for all genres of music from Beethoven to the Beatles and Brubeck to Bach and from Stravinsky to Broadway and Copland to Gershwin.

  • Like all MUSE/IQUE events, FANCY/FREE will also feature a multitude of connections across genres and disciplines.
