Oh, say can you see a rocking good time?
Rock music is a realm of mystery, in which wild riffs and refrains render simple tunes into stadium-shaking anthems. With soaring voices and brilliant instrumentalists, Rachael Worby will explore the power chords and personal stories behind the iconic songs that make us all sing and shout. In this opening of the Uncorked Series, MUSE/IQUE invites you to a night of discovery that begins with rock and transcends generations as we unearth how music brings us together.
WHAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS EVENT:
Rather than simply covering stadium favorites and greatest hits, ROCK/ANTHEM will curate these uniquely moving songs to answer the questions: what are anthems and what is their impact on us?
Anthems began as liturgical music (i.e. religious ceremony). Besides its deep roots in the community, the Pasadena Presbyterian Church is also known for founding KPPC-FM, one of the leading underground radio stations in the U.S. between 1967 and 1971. KPPC-FM was inducted into the Rock Radio Hall of Fame for its experimental and countercultural work. To learn more about why this venue was selected, read this edition of Rachael’s Corner.
Artistic Director Rachael Worby will narrate our journey and provide her insight into the venue, the repertoire, and the theme.
The repertoire features songs by Adele, the Beatles, Prince, Queen and the Queen of Soul, Radiohead, and Sting.
