Curated and Conducted by Rachael Worby, Artistic Director
Cars rev up our hopes and dreams.
Think back to a time when you had no worries—when your time was nobody’s but yours, and you could do whatever your heart desired. What did you hope for? What did you imagine?
Let Artistic Director Rachael Worby take you back to a time when the only things on your mind were a full tank of gas, your favorite song on the radio and the endless possibilities of the open road in front of you. In conjunction with the ArtCenter Car Classic 2018, the musicians of MUSE/IQUE will reinvent your favorite vintage car songs in mindblowing ways that will be sure to leave your toes tappin':
Rediscover the dreams of a simpler time, and let those memories drive your imagination forward into a future that only you could realize.
-Jam band the Goodtime Boys will ground the evening with rough and ready takes on classic favorites like “Mustang Sally” and “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”
-Banjo and upright bass duo Jordan Bush and Armando Wood put a folk spin on 50s rock 'n' roll hits like Chuck Berry’s “Maybellene"
-Frequent Stevie Wonder back up vocalist LaNesha Latimer does rock hits like Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac” the power pop way
-And hometown opera star Ashley Faatolia—with killer R&B chops that are just as ferocious—riffs on rock legend Neil Young’s “Born to Run,” plus more!
