MUSE/IQUE presents Summer of Sound

Moving Pictures with Cellist Matt Haimovitz

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Enjoy a summer evening outdoors with highlights from acclaimed film scores, classical, rock and other popular music genres - this is popcorn fare the MUSE/IQUE way. Groundbreaking rock and roll cellist Matt Haimovitz explores non-traditional performance and venues with one of the most thrilling pieces of music ever written for cello and film. Israeli born, Harvard and Juilliard educated, Haimovitz has appeared with many of the globe's major orchestras and distinguished conductors and may be best known for his Anthem tour that brought his ravishingly beautiful tone and unusual sense of style to American compositions including Hendrix's famous rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." MUSE/IQUE will also roll out the red carpet for Los Angeles native and American Idol finalist Allison Iraheta's blues-infused performance of Les Miserables' "Bring Him Home," samplings from The Russia HouseSummer and Smoke and Deception scores along with actress Wendie Malick's fresh and humorous presentation of Benjamin Britten's "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" - loved anew by kids and those simply young at heart - thanks to its prominence in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom.  The evening culminates with Peter Golub's world premiere composition of music and images projected on the big screen and emanating through the warm night sky.
