Ep. #11: Featuring Soprano Liv Redpath & Michael Valerio
"Over the Rainbow"

If music can illuminate the paths that lay before us, then "Over the Rainbow" is the lantern.

This week, families celebrate different traditions and as a community of families, we work to find the light between hope and uncertainty.

One fateful day while driving along Sunset Boulevard en route to Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Harold Arlen asked his wife to stop the car. Sitting there, right in front of the original Schwab's Drug Store in Hollywood, he jotted down what was to become the most famous melody of the 20th century; a tune which ultimately became the most famous movie song of all time.

"Over the Rainbow".

This song connects generations and inspires hearts around the world. We all recognize Arlen's trademark octave leap in the opening syllables "Some-WHERE". But it is Yip Harburg's words that really draw us in. They give voice to our shared humanity, our innocence, our inner strength and faith in a world where possibilities are endless.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

In this MUSE/IQUE In A Minute! (...Or Two), MUSE/IQUE's Mike Valerio and Liv Redpath invite you to imagine that place with this gorgeous rendition of the Arlen/Harburg classic created especially for you.
