Ep. #14: Featuring LaNesha Latimer & Fausto Cuevas
"Higher Ground"

The Wonder of Stevie

Beyond crafting every word and every note on his 16th album Innervisions, 23-year-old Stevie Wonder played every instrument on virtually every song. Exploring love, spirituality, and social consciousness, Innervisions was a triumph and remains one of his all-time favorites for its acoustic feel.

Perhaps the most compelling moment on Innervisions is "Higher Ground". From concept to writing, to recording, Wonder said: “I did the whole thing in three hours…It was almost as if I had to get it done. I felt something was going to happen. I didn’t know what or when, but I felt something". Just three days after the song’s release Wonder was in a near-fatal car accident which profoundly altered his outlook on life and illustrated the insight of his lyrics.

"This song...the emotion... for me, represents power, represents faith, always striving to be better, never giving up and getting yourself to a higher ground". - Fausto Cuevas

Having performed for years with tour-de-force Stevie Wonder, MUSE/IQUE welcomes husband and wife Fausto Cuevas and LaNesha Latimer lifting us up with their version of "HIGHER GROUND".
