Ep. #38: Featuring Mike Valerio & Measha Brueggergosman
"Blue Skies"

Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies” is one of many songs whose lyrics use the symbolic bluebird as its muse. Found in cultures worldwide, the bluebird is a harbinger of happiness, joy and harmony. Thanks to the efforts of the Southern California Bluebird Club, the iconic Western Bluebird has returned to Southern California, easily identified by its partial whiteish eye ring and blue (male) or gray (female) head and throat.

The Western Bluebird's beautiful song consists of a string of various call notes, particularly the soft, quavering kew often heard several times in succession.

Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long

Performing Berlin’s timeless standard “Blue Skies” are MUSE/IQUE’s Michael Valerio and Measha Brueggergosman.
