Ep. #64 with Alan Steinberger and Nathan Riley
Craig Carnelia. It is not likely that you have heard of him. Yet, this Tony Award and Drama Desk-nominated composer and lyricist has had four Broadway shows produced: Working, Is There Life After High School?, Sweet Smell of Success, and Imaginary Friends, as well as hits Off-Broadway and regionally.
Carnelia’s first Broadway experience was seeing No Strings, the only musical with both words and music by Richard Rogers. Inspired by those who preceded him, by the age of 19, with musical influences like The Beatles, Paul Simon, and James Taylor, Carnelia had already written 5 shows!
Many of his songs are adored in the cabaret world. “I write for theatre. But I’ve always had ideas that I wanted to do that had nothing to do with a show, so I just write them”. “Flight”, is one such song
MUSE/IQUE takes flight with Alan Steinberger and Nathan Riley.
